Our Open Day is an opportunity for parents to meet the Executive Headteacher, Head of School and the Reception and Nursery teachers, whilst experiencing first-hand the Early Years facilities awaiting your little one in September 2024.

All pupils at English Martyrs are truly cherished and nurtured throughout their time with us:

  • Our open plan indoor and outdoor Early Years learning environments are fully interactive and spacious, and have been purposefully crafted by our expert staff according to the curriculum to keep your little ones engaged whilst they learn through play.
  • Our Nursery pupils develop all the tools they need to make a flying start in Reception. Here, they will be introduced to phonics and numbers as well as a wide range of topics within the EYFS curriculum carefully curated to keep their brain and hands busy. We have 15 and 30 hours of funded nursery places which are available for September 2024.
  • Our Reception children will begin and continue to receive a well-rounded curriculum which supports their academic, emotional, spiritual and physical development, so they are ready to leave in Year 6 fully prepared for the next phase of their life in education.

To apply for a full time place in Foundation Stage for your child starting in September 2024, you must complete the following:

  • Make an online application to the local authority. If you live in the Wakefield area, you can visit the Apply for a full-time place in Reception page on the Wakefield Council website. If you are not a Wakefield resident, please contact the local authority where you live.
  • Complete the Supplementary Information Form. Complete the form and return directly to school. You can download the 2023-24 form above.

Applications for our Reception class for September 2024 opens on 1st November 2023 and closes on the 15th January 2024. National Offer Day is 16th April 2024.

To apply for a school place mid-year or to apply to transfer your child to our school, you must complete the following:

  • Contact the School Admissions Team and request an application form. You can contact the Wakefield Admissions Team at admissions@wakefield.gov.uk or 01924 306 052. You will be asked to provide your child’s name, date of birth, your current address and details of your child’s current, or previous, school. Further information about completing the application form is available on the Changing schools or new to Wakefield page on the Wakefield Council website.
  • Complete the Supplementary Information Form. Complete the form and return directly to school. You can download the 2023-24 form above.
