Could you be a Parent Governor?

English Martyrs is looking for a Parent Governor to join our fantastic Academy Council.  If you have an active interest in the education of children, and would like to learn transferable skills and network amongst skilled and like-minded individuals, this is the opportunity for you!

Being a Parent Governor is:

  • A voluntary role which provides an opportunity to make a difference to the educational experience of the pupils at English Martyrs
  • An opportunity to learn an abundance of transferable skills and to take part in training, events and networking.
  • An opportunity to ask questions, challenge and support the school’s leadership and development.

You will be welcomed into a knowledgeable and supportive team of Governors, who will guide you throughout your journey. The BKCAT Governance Team provides support for all Governors throughout their time as a Governor, while experience would be desired, the availability of training and support means is it not essential- The only requirement is that you truly care about making positive difference in lives of the pupils at English Martyrs.

Parent Governors are elected by parents of registered pupils at English Martyrs. As the parent, carer or other person with parental responsibility for a pupil at English Martyrs you can stand for election and vote.  However, there are general restrictions preventing people from becoming Governors in any category ( Please ask the school office from the nomination form and information on relevant restrictions)

If you are interested in being a Parent Governor, you can nominate yourself or, with their permission, another parent with a child at the academy.

Request , complete and return a nomination form to the school office
