Our Nursery & How to Apply
Welcome to our Nursery at English Martyrs Catholic Primary School, Wakefield, where children are supported to settle happily, grow in confidence and develop a love of learning from the very start.
Our Nursery is open to families on the western suburbs of Wakefield in nearby communities such as Thornes, Lupset, Flanshaw and Alverthorpe. We have places available now for children who are 3 years old to start straight away. Why not plan ahead? You can apply ahead of time to secure your child’s place in our wonderful Nursery.
Children benefit from a warm, nurturing environment with an indoor free-flow classroom and a dedicated outdoor area with partial shelter, supporting learning through play, exploration and carefully planned activities. We currently offer up to 30 hours of term-time only provision at our Nursery.
For the 15 Universal Hours provision, sessions are offered as either morning or afternoon sessions as follows:

If your child is entitled to the extended entitlement, they may attend for 30 hours, Monday to Friday, 8:40 – 14:40.

We also offer extended Nursery sessions running from 14.40 until 15.15 charged at £2.50 per session which are bookable in advance using the School Money app.
We provide after-school provision for our pre-school children to support working families.
After-school care is provided by Mrs Riley and Miss Senior from the end of the school day until 17.45. Please contact the school office for more details.
If you require wrap-around care, please inform the school once you have applied.
Warm school lunches are available for pre-school children at a small cost, or children may bring a packed lunch.
Some pupils may be eligible for Free School Meals. Please visit Apply for free school meals page on the GOV.UK website more information.
Pre-school pupils are invited to wear the school uniform.
