Welcome to the Reception class page. Here you will find information on routines and what happens in Reception.
Routines
Library books will be sent home every Friday. Please share these stories with your child each evening. Get cosy, switch off the TV, talk about the pictures with your child, read the stories and encourage your child to join in with parts of the story.
RWI phonics lessons begin as soon as your child starts Reception. Reading homework is set on Class dojo every week. This will focus on recognising the picture side of the flashcards first and then move onto reading the letter sounds.
Outdoor learning happens every day whatever the weather. Please ensure your child has a warm, waterproof coat with them each school day. Wellies are provided by school.
PE Day is every Friday in Reception. Please make sure your child comes to school wearing school PE kit on this day.
Please remember that PE kit is as follows:
- Black/navy blue shorts.
- White t-shirt.
- Plain black/navy blue tracksuit.
- Black/navy blue jogging bottoms/leggings.
- Plain black/navy blue sweatshirt/jacket.
- PE kits shouldn’t have logos on.
- Earrings must be removed on PE days.
Please make sure your child’s jacket is labelled.
In Foundation Stage children are expected to:
- Read twice a week to a parent.
- Practise sounds in their RWI sound book.
- Practise blending with their phonics book.
Please make sure your child brings a book bag to school every day.
