Here is where you will find out what’s going on in class and routines.

Routines

Reading Books will be changed on a Tuesday. Please ensure your child has their reading book in school every day as we will listen to readers daily. Reading books may be changed more than once a week if needed.

PE days:

• Autumn 1 – Monday and Friday

Pupils must come to school wearing school PE kit on these days. Please remember that PE kit is as follows:

• Black/Navy Blue shorts
• White t-shirt
• Plain Black or Navy Blue tracksuit
• Black/Navy Blue jogging bottoms/leggings
• Plain Navy Blue/black sweatshirt/jacket
• PE Kits should have no logos on.
• Earrings must be removed

Bikeability

Year 6 have the opportunity to participate in Bikeability Cycle Training. This course seeks to give children the skills and confidence to cycle safely on the road. The fun course starts in the playground and will continue on quiet roads around the school.

Homework 

In Year 6 children are expected to complete the following activities:

• Read at least four times a week to a parent, please record this in your child’s reading record
• Practise their weekly spellings (pupils will be tested on a Wednesday – Mrs Hinchliffe’s spelling group on a Monday)
• LBQ activities (Reading, GPS and Maths)
• Written homework (from the end of Autumn 2)

Pupils have access to:

• Times Tables Rockstars (TT Rockstars)
• Reading Plus
• Google Classrooms
• Spelling Shed
• LBQ

Homework must be completed by Friday morning. New homework will be set on a Friday.

Homework club will be on a Friday afternoon at lunchtime for children who have not completed homework from the previous week.

Music

Children in Year 6 have the opportunity to learn how to play music, particularly on the melodica, with Wakefield Music Services.
