Here is where you will find out what’s going on in class and routines.


Reading Books will be changed and sent home on Fridays. Please ensure your child has their reading book in school every day as we will listen to readers daily. Reading books may be changed more than once a week if needed.

PE Days: PE will take place on Monday and Tuesday afternoon (in Spring 2). Pupils must come to school wearing school PE kit on these days. Please remember that PE kit is as follows:

  • Black/Navy Blue shorts
  • White t-shirt
  • Plain Black or Navy Blue tracksuit
  • Black/Navy Blue jogging bottoms/leggings
  • Plain Navy Blue/black sweatshirt/jacket
  • PE Kits should have no logos on.
  • Earrings must be removed

Forest Schools

Children in Year 6 will have the opportunity to take part in forest schools in Autumn 2 (on a Tuesday).

Year 6 have the opportunity to participate in Bikeability Cycle Training. This course seeks to give children the skills and confidence to cycle safely on the road. The fun course starts in the playground and will continue on quiet roads around the school.


In Year 6 children are expected to:

  • Read at least three times a week to a parent, please record this in your child’s reading record.
  • Practise their Fast Maths Facts.
  • Practise their weekly spellings.
  • Remember pupils have access to:
    • Times Table Rockstars (TT Rockstars)
    • SumDog
    • Numbots
    • Reading Plus
    • Lexia
    • Spelling Shed
    • Google Classrooms

These are to support them in their learning. These must be accessed as often as possible at home.

  • Homework must be returned by the latest on a Thursday. New homework will be sent home on a Friday.
  • Spellings will be tested weekly on a Friday.
  • Homework club will be on a Friday afternoon at lunchtime for children who need to complete homework from the previous week.


Children in Year 6 have the opportunity to learn how to play music, particularly on the melodica, with Mrs Barr from the Wakefield Music Services.
